In 2007 – 2008 Trans Seas supplied and installed the specified High Density Mobile Storage Systems throughout the conservatory areas that safely and securely stores all of the artifacts and antiquities for The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM). Trans Seas faced local and international competition. Trans Seas successfully delivered in best price, best quality of product, & best service. Trans Seas had our own factory-trained and certified U.S. employees of Trans Seas at the site for over 1 year supervising the installation of over a skilled staff of 50 persons.
The design of the building was decided by means of an architectural competition. The competition was announced on the January 7, 2002. The organizers received 1557 entries from 82 countries, making it the largest architectural competition in history. In the second stage of the competition, 20 entries were asked to submit additional information. Judging was complete by June 2, 2003. The competition was won by the company Heneghan Peng from Dublin, Ireland.
The museum is located over 117 faddans approx. 480,000sq m, 2.5 km away from the legendary Pyramids of Giza, the plateau that is nominated in the UNESCO list of Cultural Heritage Sites. It acts at the intersection between Modernity and Antiquity, literally redirecting the traveler from the modernity of Cairo and Alexandria to the Ancient Heritage of the Egyptians which goes back to over 5000 years of civilization.
